"The art of seeing yourself is a worthwhile viewpoint to explore."

With these words, a Creativity Workshop was conceived and held at The Center during the spring/summer and fall seasons of 2014.

The Creativity Workshop was created to explore the creative process of The Center residents and clients who elected to attend. Through the exploration of the creative process by using art media and the resulting artwork, self awareness and a sense of personal well being was achieved by all 5 participants in attendance.

The aim of the Creativity Workshop was to assist participants achieve calm and peace using art media to explore their inner and outer world through the exploration of inner experience, feelings, perceptions and imagination. The emphasis was on developing and expressing images that come from inside the person. From there, the outside world was explored from the artists own personal viewpoint.

Thanks to generous support and donations from the community, a wide variety of medium was used: including acrylic paints, water color, colored pencils, movie posters, collage materials, found objects, canvas, wood and paper.

The Creativity Workshop was conceived by local artist Steven Brunner. With the assistance of Vicky Perry, these creative advisors were able to guide, inspire and answer questions. This supportive relationship was imperative in leading the art making experience by allowing the individuals to trust themselves more.

The 5 participating artists of the Creativity Workshop first saw their role as artist and their artwork appreciated in a community setting. Their artwork was shared with the public at a highly successful Creative Workshop Art Exhibition held at The Hotel Tides in Asbury Park on Sunday, August 3rd, 2014.

It coincided with a fundraiser for The Center hosted by The Hotel Tides. The artists donated 10% of all proceeds of sales to The Center and raised over a thousand dollars!! A second exhibition is being held at The Center this holiday season.

The art exhibit is now hung in Center House, 806 Third Avenue, Asbury Park, New Jersey 07712. You are invited to come take a tour and see the art on display here at The Center.
