The Center's Holiday Season 2013

December 2013

The Center had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Season. Over the Thanksgiving Holiday we prepared over 275 Thanksgiving Baskets complete with a turkey and all the festive trimmings. Saint Aloysius Church in Jackson, New Jersey was so generous in providing much of the food that we were able to gift to our clients. Wegmans donated their great holiday corporate bags that we used to construct the Thanksgiving Baskets.

We are very appreciative of John Zammeti the General Manager and David Decker the Front Store Manager for their generosity and connecting us with their benevolent group of employees from Wegmans Giving Circle. The Center’s Hospitality Committee did a fantastic job placing trees and decorations in both The Center and Center House’s Community Rooms.

Father Bob secured Christmas gifts for every client of The Center and the each resident of Center House. We had plenty of elves that helped donate, gather, wrap and distribute over 500 gifts to those we serve! Part of the elf brigades included the young men and women of the Youth Core connected with Asbury Park’s Interfaith Neighbors and many of the honor society students from Charter Academy High School, led by their dedicated teacher/counselor, Carol Hughes!

We’ve off to start the New Year. We are currently renovating two Center House Apartments to give two houseless clients a new home so they can get well and stay well for the New Year 2014. Currently Bob Hickey, one of our Board of Director Members and one of our core volunteers, has been busy giving both of these apartments a fresh new coat of paint. We’re waiting on the delivery of new carpeting, and then we’ll have professional cleaning and staging of all new liens and things to be purchased for a fresh new start for our next two Center House Residents.

If you’d like to contribute to this important next step in the life of someone who is struggling with the challenge and living with the complications of HIV/AIDS virus, you could send a check, made payable to The Center, earmarked: Center House Renovation Project or you could donate a Target Gift Card in any amount that will help the Hospitality Committee Purchase all the items needed to complete a new and happy home!

ALL my BEST! Clark Shannon,

Director of Operations, The Center in Asbury Park.
